A few weeks ago, I saw a half-page advertisement on the front page of a major national newspaper. Put out by the Delhi government, it was promoting a “Mega Job Fair” at the Thyagraj Stadium on the 21st and 22nd of January. Since I’m writing a book on Indian millennials, I decided to go and check it out.
While there were plenty of jobs available, they were mostly for telemarketers or security guards, positions which nobody wanted. That’s when I began to see how the job fair became another reminder of India’s serious jobs crisis. Read my full analysis for The Print here.
